One of the things we have been enjoying lately are test riding training clinic combining a thirty minute lesson with a coach followed by fifteen minutes with a Dressage Ireland judge to ride through a test and recieve written feedback.
Recently, Barbara and I qualified for the British Dressage area festivals and she and I and many others are hoping to take part this year in youth and senior home nations. As part of this we needed to be able to practice BD tests as they are quite different to the Irish ones, they are not run at shows here in Ireland and they changed to the new BD ones this year so even those of us who used to know the BD tests are on a learning curve.

We (myself, Lynn and Josephine) ran a training day with List 1 judge Jane Whitaker last week and it was so popular we already have another booked in with her next week!
This week we had Bernie Webb and this was the clinic I took part in with Sammy. Then on the 17th August we gave Jillie Roger’s. These clinics take place at Marlton in Wicklow – home to DSE Equestrian Outfitters and the Riding Boot Boutique.
These clinics cost €60 for a 45 minute session and you can choose to ride any Dressage Ireland / British Dressage / FEI / Eventing / Riding Club or Pony Club Test.
The Eventing Ireland and the Dressage Ireland Championships take place on the 23rd and 24th August so the clinic on the 17th August is timed perfectly for some test run through. It’s also a great way to get to discuss your test with a judge, gain more in-depth comments and feedback and practice movements for higher marks. For anyone who suffers competition nerves, these days are a great way to learn that the judge is on your side!
If interested in these clinics or to be added to the contact list for any forthcoming clinics that we might add, please contact Lynn at the number in the flyer ☺️
